Summer Without Syphilis was recorded in 1992 on a 16 track tape machine. The whole album was prepared on ATARI computer with Notator sequencer, then synched to Tape machine where live instruments and vocals were added. This is my first Solo album and at first I wanted to release it under the name of my former band LUNA, but the idea was later abandoned. Prior to this project I had significant experience as guitar player and composer/arranger, with 2 Albums and some TV, Film and Theater music to my credit but this was the first project where I took a roll of a lead singer and lyricist. Important to notice is that in 1992 the country of Yugoslavia, where album was recorded, already started falling apart and even dough the actual fights were some 500 kilometers away, the atmosphere in the country was.........not promising.
Trivia:
In 1989 I made a video for then instrumental track The Prince of Chaos with a friend and director Aleksandar Saša Davić using the footage of Romanian president Nicolae Ceaucescu and a violent revolution in Romania which lead to his execution (Romania is a neighboring country of Yugosalvia, now Serbia) The video ended up being aired on European MTV, not a small achievement considering that prior to that only one band from former Yugoslavia apeared on MTV.
Only a couple of years after that the smell of revolution arrived to our doorstep.
It looked like that we have our own Prince of Chaos embodied in president Slobodan Milosević so I made a new version of the same track "The Prince of Chaos II" (track #3) and the next step was to make a video ……not a simple task considering circumstances.
The Video was shot in studios of TV Station of my hometown Novi Sad. At the time of shooting the country was in chaos expecting the results of recently held elections. As it goes, the results were suppose to change the course of the country. We were supporters of the opposition, while shooting a Video in the one of the strongholds of the regime. We did it during the night, behind their backs. That was really dangerous thing to do, not so much for me and the band as much for my friends, the director Aleksandar Saša Davić and cameraman Jovan Milinov Toba who were both employees of TVNS at the time. The election results were in favor of the president and Video was never aired……… couple mounts after that I made my way to NYC...... but that's another story.
